The Glass Castle

For some reason, I really enjoyed this book. I'm a big reader, and sometimes it can be tough reading a book with characters that seem like they never get dealt the right cards. It can get old and seem like an entire sob story (sounds heartless, I know) and it just isn't a fun read. However, this one I really enjoyed.

I found this book to be a great read, and a very important story. I found myself constantly rooting for Jeannette and her family. It's hard to hear such terrible things happening to children because of poor parenting, but the fact that almost all the children get out alive and well is an amazing ending. It gives hope to people in that same situation. Most kids would continue the cycle of bad parenting and living poor, because it's all their used to. This story gives kids the hope that they can get out of poverty and live however they want. It may take a little more effort, but it's completely in reach.

Though some parts in this book just plain disgusted me, I actually found myself recommending this book to people. It's one of those stories that everyone should read. It's important in the fact that it can give the person in the worst situation hope. There is ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how slow the train is going. :)
