Facebook

Oh, Facebook. We spent many years together. Too bad I despise you now. Thanks for wasting my time.. literally! ;)

Social networking. It's a love/hate relationship!

To be completely honest, I find social networking a great way to stay in touch with old friends. Personally, I haven't had a Facebook account for over a year now. It's a nice break from the crazy Facebooking I did for the three years prior.

Ever since I got rid of Facebook, I've had an easy time. Though I may not get invited to "events on Facebook" or see someone's pictures, I completely enjoy not being on it. I spent so much precious time looking at statuses and pictures, sometimes of people that I didn't even know! It sounds ridiculous, but it can be very addicting. There's nothing like a good old fashioned conversation over the phone or face-to-face. I missed that. My solution? De-activate my Facebook account. Though I may not talk to as many people as I used to, I have a nice, close circle of friends. I'm completely okay with not hearing detailed accounts of all my Facebook friends' days. I'm fine with not hearing the drama of "she said this in a comment on my status", or listening to people in relationships getting upset about a simple picture. All in all, I can easily live without it.

I understand the hype. I was involved in it. At times, I'd say I miss it. Randomly connecting with people that I haven't seen in years is very neat. Looking at my friends' pictures was always fun. There are a whole lot of perks to Facebook, but most people overuse it. I'd totally get back on it if it were simpler. I doubt that will happen though. :)
